The head of the PiS club, former Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak, announced on Friday that he had received information that his security clearances had been withdrawn. This is allegedly related to the allegations against him regarding the declassification of part of the “Warta” plan for the use of armed forces in 2023.

Błaszczak wrote on Friday on the X platform that “Donald Tusk's politicized special services” had just informed him that his security clearances had been withdrawn.

“According to the deputy head of the Internal Security Agency, Lt. Col. Paweł Chomentowski, I may be susceptible to blackmail in connection with the charges brought against me related to revealing the plans of the first Tusk government regarding the defense of Poland only on the Vistula line,” wrote the former head of the Ministry of National Defense.

He added that the Internal Security Agency additionally refrained from listening to him, stating that “no explanation would be able to remove the actual premise for establishing justified doubts regarding susceptibility to blackmail or pressure.”

“I have no doubt that the decision to take away my credentials was made in the offices of the most important PO politicians, and not of the politicized officers of the secret services, who are only a tool in the hands of the current government,” Błaszczak wrote.

“In Tusk's country, people who wanted to give up almost half of Poland without a fight, who treated Putin as an ally and cooperated with the FSB, are bringing charges and depriving the right of access to state secrets to people who revealed facts that compromised them,” wrote the head of the PiS club.

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, commented on the matter. “The Internal Security Agency deprived Błaszczak of his security clearances. There is no doubt about this. The PiS vice-president does not guarantee secrecy. The best proof of this was during the election campaign,” the minister wrote on the 10th.

The prosecutor's office brought charges against the former head of the Ministry of National Defense in March this year, Błaszczak pleaded not guilty, and in August this year. An indictment against him and the current head of the National Security Bureau, Sławomir Cenckiewicz, was brought to the Warsaw district court.

The accusation – as the prosecutor's office informed then – concerns Błaszczak's exceeding his powers at the end of July 2023 in order to achieve personal benefits for the Law and Justice party by lifting the secrecy clause from fragments of operational planning documents at the strategic level – including: plan for the use of the Polish Armed Forces “Warta”.

In September 2023, i.e. during the parliamentary election campaign, Błaszczak presented declassified fragments in a spot published on the official PiS profile on the X platform, which, according to the prosecutor's office, “acted to the detriment of the public interest and caused exceptionally serious damage to the Republic of Poland.”

According to the prosecutor's office, Błaszczak revealed “out of context” fragments of the “Warta” plan, which he interpreted in a way to indicate that “the political authorities at that time did not want to defend Poland from the very beginning of the enemy's aggression, but only after the occupation of eastern Poland on the Vistula line,” which – as it was added – “is in no way clear from the analysis of the entire documents.” Moreover, according to investigators, the abolition of the secrecy clause had far-reaching effects, which negatively affected, among others, internal and external security of the Republic of Poland.

Błaszczak then said that “this is not an indictment, but an act of revenge by Donald Tusk.” In his opinion, this is the price “for revealing the plans of the first PO-PSL government to give up almost half of Poland without a fight.” “If I were faced with this dilemma again, I would without hesitation declassify the documents showing the true intentions of Tusk's team,” Bałszczak wrote in August.
