“The clock is ticking, we still have 12 hours until the end of the day and if the arms suspension does not come into force by that time, the European side (launch) preparations for sanctions” – he emphasized.
Referring to planned conversations on a truce, he added that Germany is ready to participate in a meeting in Turkey on Thursday.
Direct negotiations in Turkey
On Saturday, the leaders of Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Great Britain called Moscow to the unconditional introduction of a 30-day suspension of a weapon, otherwise threatening to impose restrictions on the Russian energy and banking sector. The initiative was also supported by US President Donald Trump.
Russian President Vladimir Putin responded with a counterpront – he proposed to start direct negotiations with Ukraine on Thursday in Turkey to “eliminate the original causes of the conflict.” Wołodymyr Zelanski replied that he was expecting “total and permanent suspension of weapons from Monday” and announced that he would personally wait for Putin during talks in Turkey.
