Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health saved a teenager with a fatal complication pancreatitis. This was reported in the press service.

The girl was admitted to the pediatric surgery department with acute pain and biliary colic from one of the regions of the region. The teenager was further examined and diagnosed with cholelithiasis complicated by pancreatitis.

During an operation to remove the gallbladder, they discovered a pancreas that was almost completely affected by pancreatic necrosis, writes Gorod Prima.

“Cholelithiasis in children has become much more common, this pathology is becoming younger, we see such cases after the age of one. It is often hereditary in nature due to metabolic disorders. The problem of the bile ducts was complicated by biliary pancreatic necrosis, which is very rare in children,” explained pediatric surgeon Mikhail Sharogradzov.

After the operation, the girl spent several weeks in intensive care, where she received complex treatment with the participation of endocrinologists and gastroenterologists. Doctors carried out follow-up examinations, including MRI and CT, and were able to stop the pathological process.

A month after discharge, at a follow-up examination, doctors were surprised to note that the pancreas had completely recovered.
