Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10. There is a solution

Windows 10, although still popular around the world, is slowly giving way to the newer version of Windows 11. Microsoft announced that it will end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. However, there is a way that will allow access to support for another year and for free.

As “Komputer Świat” explains, the end of support for Windows 10 may mean no security updates and a greater risk of cyberattacks. Formally, the decision to end support for Windows 10 has been known for a long time, but initially Microsoft planned to offer the extension of security updates as a paid service.
This was met with criticism, especially in Europe, where EU authorities considered that such an approach may be unfair to users. As a result, Microsoft was obliged to provide a free Extended Security Updates (ESU) program.

Finally, as of October 14, 2025, Microsoft no longer provides support for Windows 10, which may result in compatibility issues with new applications and devices. This may affect system stability and everyday use of the computer.
As “Komputer Świat” explains, users can, however, secure a free extension of support. The way to do this is to register in the ESU program. The requirements are as follows:
- Windows 10 version 22H2 Home, Professional, Pro Education or Workstation.
- the latest system update.
- administrator account on the computer.
Registration can be done in the system update menu, and after meeting the conditions, a message about the possibility of registering in ESU will appear. The last step is to click the “Register Now” button and log in to your Windows account.

Thanks to the free extension of support, users will gain additional time to switch to a newer system, while avoiding the risks associated with lack of updates.
You can sign up for the Extended Security Updates program for its entire duration, i.e. until October 13, 2026.
