Russia reaches 105-110% of the monthly military recruitment objective, said Vadim Skibițki, the deputy chief of the Ukrainian Military Service (HUR), in an interview, on Wednesday, August 12, to the Ukrainian publication.
The Kremlin intended to recruit 343,000 people in 2025 and has already met over 60% of this goal. Skibițki added that Moscow intends to increase the goal by at least 15-17%.
“One of the strengths of the Russian armed forces is that they have operational reserves,” he said. “I use them to rotate the troops and strengthen the most critical areas on the front line,” added the deputy chief of Hur ,.
By avoiding another large -scale mobilization after partial, unpopular mobilization, from 2022, Moscow has been based on employment contracts and extensive recruitment campaigns, offering large bonuses in signing contracts and a generous package of social benefits, according to The Kyiv Independent.
According to Skibițki, the bonuses when signing the contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense vary greatly from one region to another, the largest payments being offered in the Moscow and Leningrad regions.
The current recruitment rate, of 30,000 to 40,000 people per month, according to the information of American and European secret services quoted by The Wall Street Journal, is sufficient to compensate for Russia's losses, estimated by NATO at about 1,000 soldiers per day.
The Russian military leaders would press for a broader mobilization, despite the Kremlin's reluctance. In January, the vice -president of the State Duma Commission, Alexei Zhuravlev, said that a broader mobilization could be required for the country to be prepared for a possible conflict with the West.
In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered, during the spring recruitment campaign, the incorporation of 160,000 men, the highest mobilization of its kind in the last 14 years, many recruits being indirectly involved in war operations, despite the official prohibition of being sent to the front.
