The Czech Football Federation would have dismissed the coach Ivan Hasek (62), 3 days after the national team suffered a shameful failure, 1-2 with the Faroe Islands in the World Championship preliminaries.
According to the information in the Czech press, the coach would have been dismissed by the Executive Committee of the Federation after an e-mail vote. The members would have voted for the selection of the coach.
The failure with the Faroe Islands was fatal: Ivan Hasek, the Czech selector, dismissed after a vote organized by e-mail
In October, the Czech Republic recorded two unfavorable results: white draw with Croatia and a surprising defeat with Feroe, score 1-2. The wrong steps of the selection came at a time when they could continue to fight for direct qualification at the World Championship, depending on Croatia's results.
Now, the Czechs are in the second place in the group and have only one match to play, with Gibraltar, a team that has gathered zero points and a goal of -18. The Czechs can lose even the second place if they lost with Gibraltar, and the Feroe islands would win with Croatia.
Ivan Hasek was named the Czech selector in January 2024. He stayed on the bench at 21 matches: 11 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats in almost 2 years of mandate. This was the second period of Hasek at the helm of the national team: he prepared the Czech Republic for three months in 2009.
Ivan Hasek also trained in Sparta Prague, Strasbourg, Vissel Kobe, Al Wasl, Saint Etienne, Al Ahli, Al Hilal, Qatar SC, Fujirah and Emirates Club. At the level of national teams, Ivan Haseki was the coach of Gabon for 4 months in 2005 and the Lebanon coach in season 2021-2022.
Would be hallucinating: The scenario by which the Faroe Islands qualify for the World Championship
Theoretical chances of winning the group also keeps the Faroe islands, but there are also more conditions to meet:
-
To win their last match, in Croatia;
-
The Czech Republic not to win at home with Gibraltar;
-
Croatians to get a maximum of one point in the matches with Gibraltar (home) and Montenegro (travel).
