The fire brigade arrived on site. When firefighters entered through a window into a locked sixth-floor apartment in the La Fuensanta district of Valencia, they made a gruesome discovery. In one of the rooms they found the mummified body of 86-year-old Antonio. Next to him were dead pigeons and insects that had flown in through the open window. There was also a lot of dirt in the room.
The case is already being investigated by the police, who have found no suspicious circumstances surrounding Antonio's death. She initially concluded that the pensioner died of natural causes. Neither his family nor his friends reported the man missing. Moreover, even though Antonio had been dead for 15 years, he still received a pension.
