Who proposed the power in Rep. Moldova for the position of prime minister: “He chose to get involved when the country needs”

The Action and Solidarity Party has announced that it will propose Alexandru Munteanu for the position of prime minister, the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The action is to take place after validating the result of the elections and convening the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) announced the appointment of Alexandru Munteanu in a leadership position within the Moldovan Executive, one day after Dorin Recean announced that he was giving up the position of prime minister.

“PAS will wait for the validation of the deputy mandates by the CC and the convening of the Parliament meeting by the President Sandu, and after the establishment of the parliamentary fractions, we will go to the president with the candidacy of Alexandru Munteanu for the position of prime minister. Moldova needs as many well -trained people, with vast economic experience, who will lead the effort to access the EU and economic development. We thank Mr. Munteanu, with an impressive career, for choosing to get involved when the country needs ”, underlined the representatives of the power formation.

The candidate for the position of prime minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, is an unknown name so far to the public, but has a vast experience, especially in the field of business.

“Alexandru Munteanu is an economist, university professor and Moldovan businessman, known for his activity in the field of investments and involvement in international educational and cultural projects. He is the founder of the company 4i Capital Partners and the president of the French alliance of the Republic of Moldova. Because Mr. Munteanu was not a public person, it is important to know the achievements and professional path of his reign ”, added the step members.

Details about the candidate

Alexandru Munteanu was born on January 20, 1964, in Chisinau. He attended university studies in the field of physics, after which he worked at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences (ASM). He also worked at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM), as a lecturer in the discipline the theoretical bases of electrotechnics, and held the position of prodecan of the International Faculty. Later, he worked within the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), being initially head of the foreign operations section, then deputy director of the Department of External Relations. In parallel, he taught the discipline of banks and finances at ULIM.

He attended postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York, specializing in international relations, banks and finances. After graduation he worked at the Washington World Bank, DC

According to the step, Alexandru Munteanu is the founder and president of the French alliance of the Republic of Moldova, an organization that has been leading for over three decades.

It is also one of the founders of Amcham Moldova (American Chamber of Commerce). In 1997, he returned to the Republic of Moldova, becoming deputy director of the Center for Strategic Investigation and Reforms (CISR). Subsequently, he was director of the representative of the American Wnisef investment fund, as well as a member and/or chairman of the Board of Directors of numerous companies in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

Since 2007, he has run the Direct Investment Department of Dragon Capital (Ukraine). In 2016, he founded 4i Capital Partners, active investment company in Eastern Europe. He was a member and, subsequently, co-president of the Business Council next to the Stability Pact (Vienna, Austria), as well as a member and president of the Patron Council of the International International School (PSI) in Kyiv, an International Baccalaureate (IB) institution. For his activity, he was distinguished, in 2006, with the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor (Légion d'Honneur) of the French Republic.

On October 13, Dorin Recean announced that he is giving up the position of prime minister. At the same time, he said he would give up political life. The announcement was made at a joint press conference, held along with the leader of the Action and Solidarity Party, Igor Grosu.

CC meeting

On Thursday, October 16, the magistrates of the Constitutional Court (CC) will meet in the meeting to confirm the results of the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025 and to validate the mandates of the elected deputies.

It happens after the Chisinau electoral authority validated the result of the parliamentary elections at the meeting on October 5, the report being transmitted to the Constitutional Court for the final validation.

In the document transmitted by the central electoral commission (CEC) to the Constitutional Court (CC), the final report of the election or the lists of the elected deputies are found.

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), which obtained the highest number of votes, ie 50.20%, will have 55 mandates in the future Parliament.

PAS is followed by the patriotic block that obtained 24.17% of the votes and will have 26 mandates. In the third place is the alternative block, with 7.96% of votes and eight mandates. Our party and the Political Party Democracy (PPDA) obtained 6.20%, respectively 5.62%, each to hold six parliamentary armchairs.
