The shares of Easyjet have registered a strong increase after information that the MSC shipping company, based in Switzerland, would take place, would take into account, writes The Guardian.
Easyjet shares registered an increase of 12% after publishing an article in Corriere della Sera, an Italian publication, which cited three anonymized sources familiar with the subject. It is the biggest increase in actions of the last three years.
Easyjet is the second low-cost airlines in Europe. The first is Ryanair that operates on several airports in Romania.
According to the Italian publication, several investors consider an offer for Easyjet, with options that range from a majority participation to total control.
This is not the first time that Easyjet attracts interest in a takeover. In 2021, the company rejected an offer from its rival Wizz Air, writes Guardian.
Easyjet was founded by billionaire Cyprioto-Grec Stelios Haji-Ioannou, who still has the largest share of the shareholders, 15%. The company has more than 16,000 employees worldwide.
