Residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory are increasingly choosing gadgets that make life easier, safer and more comfortable. According to MegaFon, over the past year the number of smart devices connected to the operator’s network has increased by 21%, and the volume of IoT traffic has almost doubled.

Digital solutions are becoming a common part of everyday life not only in cities, but also in rural areas. CCTV cameras help monitor the home when its owners are at work or in the field. Temperature and humidity sensors monitor the microclimate in greenhouses, and GPS-Trackers track agricultural equipment and even pets.

Technologies are being implemented especially actively in the north of the region. Thus, in the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets Municipal District, the number of smart devices increased by 109% over the year. However, the leader in the total number of connections was the Emelyanovsky municipal district, which accounts for more than a third of all IoT gadgets in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This is explained by the rapid development of the suburban area of Krasnoyarsk – a large number of gardening associations, recreation centers and cottage villages are located here.

As analytics shows, among the owners of such technologies the age group of 35–44 years (30%) is in the lead. Next come subscribers 45–54 years old (27%) and 25–34 years old (21%). The least active are rural residents over 70 years of age—only 3% of users.

“The interest in smart technologies is a reflection of how the way of life is changing in the region. The Internet of Things helps you save resources, protect the environment, and manage your household literally from your phone. This is not just a trend, but an indicator of trust in technology and people’s desire to live in a modern way, no matter where they are,” says Andrey Kim, director of MegaFon in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
