Every month, the Central Statistical Office informs about the average salary in medium-sized and large companies. With a delay of several months, more detailed data on average and median wages in various sectors of the economy also appear. Even less frequently published is a report on the structure of remuneration by profession, which has just been published, and the previous one was published two years ago. What do we learn from it?
The average monthly gross salary for October 2024 (the latest data of this type) for a large professional group of public authority representatives, senior officials and managers was 42% higher. from the average salary in the second highest group of specialists – we read in the Central Statistical Office report.
In turn, compared to the group of workers performing simple jobs receiving the lowest wages, the average salary among the elite was 266% higher.
The leaders of the Central Statistical Office's ranking earned over PLN 15,000. PLN gross, while specialists' salaries were below PLN 11,000. PLN, and employees from the lowest level – below PLN 6,000. zloty.

The lowest paid large professional groups include service workers, salespeople and farmers. Office workers and industrial workers earn very similar wages, falling more significantly behind the wages of technicians and mid-level staff.
Salaries by profession. How have they changed over the years?
As noted by the Central Statistical Office, the distribution of wages for women and men according to large occupational groups in 2024 has not changed significantly compared to 2022, which was described in the previous report.

“Compared to October 2022, there was an increase in nominal wages in all large occupational groups. Among men, the largest increase in wages took place in the group of “service workers and salespeople” (by 33%).while the smallest increase was in the group “representatives of public authorities, senior officials and managers” (by 19.6%). In the case of women, the highest increase in wages occurred in the group of “employees performing simple work” (by 35.9%).and the smallest increase in the average monthly gross salary among women was recorded in the group of “farmers, gardeners, foresters and fishermen” (by 22.5%), the Central Statistical Office calculates.

The report also includes: median salaries previously indicated large professional groups. Of course, they are lower than average earnings. At this level, apart from the top three best-paid groups, the differences in amounts are not large.

Statisticians explain that the presented data comes from a representative study “Wage structure” for October 2024. The source of the data is a report prepared every two years by reporting units employing 10 or more people.
The study results were generalized for full-time and part-time employees (without converting part-time employees into full-time employees), but on a full-time basis.
This study presents only the basic research results for Poland. Data taking into account the characteristics of employees and the characteristics of the workplace at lower levels of aggregation will be presented in a separate publication in February 2026.
