The demand for transporting goods by sea in the world is constantly growing, despite the United States commencement of trade wars – the Danish group of container navigation Maersk said on Thursday, presenting better than forecasts results for the first half of 2025.

The shipowner supporting 700 container ships expects that this year will be sent from 2 to 4 percent. More containers than in 2024.
“Despite the variability of the market and historical uncertainty in international trade, the demand for our services lasts at a high level,” commented the president of Maersk Vincent Clerc in a statement.
Paradoxically, the company was influenced by the conflict in Yemen, causing the need to give up the flow through the Red Sea and the Suez channel for a much longer road from Asia to Europe along Africa. The extended transport time has increased by the price of services.

As reported, the company's operating profit increased from January to the end of June this year to 13.4 billion of crowns ($ 2.1 billion) from 7.3 billion crowns in the corresponding period in 2024. In the forecast it was estimated that for the whole of 2025 this result would be from around 13 to 22 billion crowns (2-3.5 billion dollars). (PAP)
