Voting for the new design of the 500 was canceled due to vote cheating

The Bank of Russia decided to cancel the vote launched in early October to select symbols for the new 500 ruble banknote.

“We have encountered a large number of attempts by technical means to increase the number of votes for some objects. This will not allow us to draw objective voting results,” — the Central Bank reported on October 12.

Let us remind you that voting was supposed to last until October 14. Each participant had to choose two symbols: for the front side of the bill – from the sights of Pyatigorsk and for the back – from objects of the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District (the list included famous monuments, historical and modern buildings, cultural heritage sites).

New voting dates will be announced later. In this case, the list of symbols for selection will be saved.

“Based on the results of the analysis of all voting channels, we will propose new conditions that will eliminate the possibility of unfair actions,” the Central Bank said.

It is planned that the new 500 ruble banknote will be on par with other banknotes that have undergone modernization.
