The Russian Orthodox Church told how to deal correctly with old Orthodox calendars

Representative of the World Russian People's Council Mikhail Ivanov explained to believers the rules for handling church calendars that have expired.
According to him, these publications are not just everyday items, but “an illustrated chronicle of faith,” reminiscent of gospel events and saints.
As Yamal 1 reports with reference to RT material, calendars with icons or images of temples cannot simply be thrown away. It is recommended to carefully separate the sheets with holy faces from the binding and store them together with home icons.
If the images are worn or damaged, they should be burned. According to ancient tradition, ashes should be released into running water or scattered in a clean place where they will not be stepped on. The expert emphasized that calendars with sacred images should be treated with special reverence, as religious objects.
