The PSD interim president, Sorin Grindeanu, believes that two of the mistakes made by social-democrats, which are a reason for decreased polls, would be that in the last year's elections they believed too much in the word of PNL and that they did not have enough discussions with Victor Ponta to convince him not to run for president.

Grindeanu was asked on Sunday, at Antena 3, how PSD arrived at a score of under 20% in opinion polls.

“There are many causes. No matter how good it has been governed, or less well, PSD, even if it had no PNL years in government, yet from 2012 until 2025, in 13 years, PSD was about 10-11, PNL had about 11-12, a little more than us, all these things are seen. It had to be made in Romania, the erosion from the government, if I can say so, is one that feels as a percentage ”, said the interim president of the PSD.

He added that some political mistakes were made.

“Last year (…) I believed too much in the word of the PNL. I thought that when we understood to have common lists, and so we had for MEPs, although we did not want to, and everyone told us, good, but why you save … because I was in a coalition, I decided, I decided, Well in the polls and these things were decided in the coalition. Six months in which no one has won.
