A blow to the liver: these “poisons” from the usual diet destroy the organ worse than alcohol

The liver is the most patient organ in our body. It works seven days a week, silently processes toxins, regulates metabolism and helps us live. And most of us don’t even suspect that the main enemies of liver cells are on our plates.

We often blame alcohol or drugs, but the liver is more likely to suffer from common foods that are considered “harmless.”

Western scientists have conducted a series of studies and compiled a list of the 5 most common enemies that quietly “harm” the liver every day.

1. Sugar

Sugar is found not only in desserts, but also in bread, ketchup, yogurt and even in “fitness” bars. Excess glucose and especially fructose causes the liver to convert it into fat, causing inflammation.

WHO research has shown that consuming more than 25g of added sugar per day increases the risk of fatty liver disease by 60%.

Replace sweets with fruits – fiber slows down the absorption of sugar and protects the liver.

2. White flour

White bread and buns give an immediate spike in glucose, causing the liver to work hard.

According to European scientific journals, 34% of participants with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease consumed refined carbohydrates.

Choose whole grain or rye flour. Try homemade flatbreads – tasty, healthy and without stress on the body.

3. Sausages and sausages

Many people think it's just meat. But in reality it is a mixture of nitrates, salt, flavor enhancers and fat. All this turns into toxins, which the liver is forced to neutralize.

Scientists say that sausage lovers have twice the risk of liver fibrosis.

Replace the sausage with baked meat or turkey with herbs. No chemicals – and tastier.

4. Fast food and fried food

Even “rare french fries” are a source of trans fats, which cause liver cell death.

Rospotrebnadzor found that 1 serving of fries contains up to 4 g of trans fats at a rate of ≤ 1 g per day.

Try the potatoes in the oven or deep fryer without oil.

5. Alcohol is enemy number 1 without a safe dose.

The myth about the “benefits of a glass of wine” has long been debunked. Any amount of alcohol causes stress, inflammation and death of liver cells.

There is no safe dose of alcohol. The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation warns: up to 70% of cases of liver cirrhosis are associated with alcohol.

Replace alcohol with kvass, fruit drink or non-alcoholic wine.

The liver can recover, but not indefinitely. But everyone can make their own personal choice – to heal or destroy.

There is no need to idealize “clean eating”—moderation and awareness are enough. Limit sugar, white flour, fast food and alcohol – and the body will respond with health, energy and lightness.

Question and answer:

What foods are the most harmful to the liver?

The most dangerous are sugar, white flour, sausages, fast food and alcohol.

What can you do to keep your liver healthy?

To support your liver, include vegetables, oatmeal, buckwheat, broccoli, beets, olive oil in your diet and drink more water. Eat less sweets, move more.
