Bucharest is illuminated at the weekend: Spotlight-International Light Festival, 9th edition. What is the program

The capital of Romania becomes, for three days, a true show of light and digital art. Spotlight-The International Light Festival, located in its 9th edition, brings to Calea Victoriei and in partner locations over 20 interactive installations, video mapping shows and digital art works signed by artists from Romania, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

This year's edition proposes to the public a reflection on how light can create links between the city, the community and the environment.

Among the remarkable installations of the 2025 edition are Sol Machina, a monumental creation of H3 Studio in Romania, present at the National Military Circle, which reinterprets solar energy in a contemporary visual language, Pixel-Ghosts, an interactive work done by Motionlab at Arcub-the Gabroveni Inn, inspired by the Pixel Culture, By Luminarista from France, a poetic work that captures the fragility and freedom of movement, turning the flight into a visual metaphor of light, Keyframes from Groupe Laps in France, an urban light choreography, and Whale from Aerosculpture in France, a kinetic installation dedicated to the fragility of the marine environment.

Other works included in the festival program are flowed from Vedel & de Wolf (Belgium), Odonata from Number 8 (Germany), Energy Pulse from PPC/Rizi Studio, but also Romanian creations such as Hulahoop from Collectif Scale, Morphoclash de Vali Chincișan and Paralel Mind by Sergiu Doroftei.

The main circuit takes place on Calea Victoriei, between George Enescu Square and Regina Elisabeta Bd., With extensions at Arcub – Gabroveni Inn, as well as in partner locations Mega Mall, Promenada Mall and Sky Tower (Raiffeisen Bank Romania headquarters in Calea Floreasca 246C).

The program of the festival begins on Friday, October 10, with Warm-up Party in George Enescu Square, followed by the ignition of Spotlight Lights and the opening of the festival route between 21:00 and 23:00. Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12, the Spotlight route will be accessible to visitors between 7:00 and 23:00.

In parallel with the route of the festival, Arcub – The Great Hall houses on October 10 and 11, the Spotlight Talks program, a series of conferences dedicated to professionals and fans of digital art and production of international festivals.

The guests include international renowned artists and curators, such as Anastasia Isachsen from Fjord Oslo Light Festival (Norway), Davy & Kristin McGuire from Studio McGuire (UK), Marcell Arosio from Kernel Festival (Italy), Marko Bolykovic of Visual Festival (Cruia) and others.

Participation is free, within the limits of available places, based on preliminary reservation on arcub.ro or iabilet.ro.

Traffic restrictions on the weekend in the capital for Spotlight

For the good performance of the event, on Friday, October 10, between 21: 00-00, 00, as well as on October 11 and 12, between 19:00-23:00, road traffic will be restricted on Calea Victoriei, the segment between Dacia Boulevard and the United Nations Square, without affecting the two intersections.

During the instituted restrictions, the car crossing will be allowed on Calea Victoriei, at the intersections with Str. Ion Câmpineanu and Regina Elisabeta Bd.

At the same time, during the restrictions, an emergency tape will be provided for car access to the institutions in the affected area.

Bypass routes:

-Bd. Lascăr Catargiu – Bd. Gheorge Magheru – Bd. Nicolae Bălcescu – IC Brătianu Boulevard;

-Str. Buzești – Str. Berzei – Str. Vasile Pârvan – Splaiul Independence.
