A 24-year-old illegal immigrant was detained at Krasnoyarsk airport for trying to bribe a police officer. This was reported by the Department of Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Siberian Federal District.

According to the investigation, on October 5, a foreign citizen, while at the Krasnoyarsk airport, tried to bribe a transport police officer for not drawing up a report on an administrative offense, in connection with his violation of the regime of stay in Russia, entailing administrative deportation from the Russian Federation.

Last summer, a man came to Russia to work, but did not complete the necessary documents and evaded mandatory fingerprint registration as part of immigration control. At the end of the permitted period of stay, he did not regulate his legal status and did not leave the country.

“At first, the foreigner offered the law enforcement officer a monetary reward in the amount of 5 thousand rubles, but later increased the amount three times – up to 15 thousand. The crime was not completed, as the police officer refused to receive the money and reported the incident to his superiors,” explained the transport police.

The man’s illegal actions were stopped by employees of the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Siberian Federal District. A case was opened against the illegal immigrant under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 3 art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted bribery). In addition, the attacker was subjected to administrative punishment for violating migration legislation and was placed in a temporary detention center for foreign citizens.

Currently, the necessary set of investigative and procedural actions are being carried out in the criminal case.
