Trump is obsessed with classic shoes from the Florsheim brand, which sell for about $145, the media writes.
The newspaper says that the US President last year began looking for more comfortable shoes for long working days. His choice settled on Florsheim. Later, he began ordering pairs of shoes for others. The head of the White House himself paid for the purchases.
Trump gave them to agency heads, lawmakers, White House advisers and VIPs. Some officials presented gifts to the president right in the Oval Office, WSJ points out.
“All the guys have them,” a White House official told the media. Another joked that “everyone is afraid not to wear them.”
Some officials and VIPs are not willing to wear donated shoes, and in most cases they wear them when they are near Trump. One cabinet secretary complained to the media that he had to hide his beloved and expensive Louis Vuitton shoes and wear Florsheim.
The WSJ also reports that Trump even has fun trying to guess people's shoe sizes. When he succeeds, he instructs an assistant to place the order, and within a week the shoes are delivered to the White House.
The Times adds that Rubio and Vance each received four pairs of new shoes from their boss.
At the same time, the pair given to Rubio apparently turned out to be too big – in one of the photos on social networks, the Secretary of State's shoes looked noticeably larger than his feet.
