On Saturday, the Georgian police used water cannons and tear gas to repel from the Presidential Palace of the participants of a large demonstration in Tbilisi against the ruling party of the Georgian dream. Five people were detained.

Kobachiga said that 7,000 participated in the demonstration. people, but the “attempt to overthrow the constitutional order” ended in failure, even – as he assessed – EU support.

– Nobody will avoid responsibility. Also political – the prime minister said.

At the same time, he accused the EU ambassador in Georgia Paweł Herczyński, mixing in Georgian policy and called him to condemn protests.

– Specific people from abroad even supported all this (…) In this context, the Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia bears special responsibility. He should speak, distance himself and strongly condemn what is happening on the streets of Tbilisi – Kobachiga announced.

The EU has not yet commented on these claims. In July, the EU press services rejected the “disinformation and unjustified accusations” of Georgian authorities regarding the role of the EU allegedly played in Georgia.

The Georgian dream said on Saturday that the party won the local elections in all cities in the country.

Saturday's election was boycotted by several opposition parties, including the United National Movement of former President Micheil Saakashvili, who called his supporters to go to the streets.

The Georgian dream that has been ruling since 2012 from the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is accused of striving to get closer with Moscow, including in connection with the adoption of the EU criticized act on “foreign agents”. The country's authorities also suspended the process of integration with the Union.
