Two people were shot dead and five others were injured, some of them seriously, in an armed incident on Friday night in the Nice coastal city, in the south of France, officials said on Saturday, according to AGERPRES.
A police operation to seek the authors of the attack was ongoing.
An investigation has been opened on the suspicion of a premeditated crime committed by an organized tape, the French authorities said.
The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, said that the armed attack on Friday evening has the drug trafficking and that automatic weapons were used in the attack.
He asked for an increase in the presence of the police in the neighborhood in which the incident took place.
Order forces were mobilized after the incident to ensure security on the spot, a problematic area known for violent offenses, the Prefecture said.
According to the French press, the suspects are still looking for the police.
