Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told Prima TV on Friday that the solution to have more money on the budget is to collect the taxes “that we have set and, through the measures we take, to take more people in the economy”.

Asked if personally he intends to increase pensions before the government rotary, the prime minister recalled that “by the end of 2026 wages in the public sector and pensions were capped.”

“In the conditions in which at the end of 2026 Romania will approach the deficit of a value approaching 6%, so we decrease by over two percentage points, then there will be conditions for the salary in the public sector and the pensions are increased, probably based on a calculation that takes into account the inflation rate, which takes into account the ability to support these variant,”

“The imbalances you generate are invalidated by the real economy”

Bolojan warned that “all the imbalances you generate, through measures that seem good, sooner or later they are invalidated by the real economy.”

“What happens during this period, through all the measures that have been forced to take, we show that our economy cannot bear the things we have decided and, in one form or another, through government corrections, these are relatively controlled, or uncontrolled corrections, through some inflations that are no longer kept under control or through a payment,”

He said that “we cannot have more money, for example, to the state budget than the money we take in the form of taxes and taxes from the people working in Romania.”

“We want to have more money in the state budget, to ensure social assistance, to make investments, to have better health or education services? It means that we have more people in the economy, this is a very important thing and we have to do, we have too few people in the economy, or we tax more from those who work, The measures we take, to take more people in the economy ”, concluded Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
