The Russian forces that try to conquer the Ukrainian Bastion Ceasov and (Chasiv Yar) in East Ukraine have been reinforced with the Elite Presidential Regiment of the FSB, the Ukrainian publication announces.
Chasiv Yar is one of the most important strategic cities in the Donetk region and the scene of an intense, long -lasting and bloody battle, which began in early April 2024, notes The Kyiv Independent.
According to Ivan Petrichak, the spokesman of the Separate Mechanized Brigade 24, the Russian forces continue to fail in their attempts to occupy the city and called the Elite Regiment within the former KGB for reinforcements.
Petrichak said that Russia's 98th Parachute Division was reinforced by the FSB presidential regiment, “significantly strengthening” the Russians in the front sector of Chassiv Yar.
“They are high -level specialists. Now we have to deal with very intense struggles and work with great accuracy and accuracy,” said the spokesman.
“If the Russians use specialists of this level in urban struggles, they probably also face some difficulties,” Petrichak added.
The Presidential Regiment of the FSB – also known as the Kremlin Regiment – is responsible for the security of the Kremlin, the valuables stored in it and the state officials, as well as the accomplishment of the ceremonial tasks, such as the change of the guard at the grave of the unknown soldier in the Alexandru Garden, Moscow.
It is usually not detached to fight abroad.
The attacks of Moscow forces on Chasiv Yar, which lasts for months, are part of the slow, constant advance and with great losses of the Russian army in the Ukrainian region.
“Now, the fights in Chasiv Yar have a character of urban war. When they cannot conquer the city by assault, they use the air forces and destroy the city, a neighborhood with a neighborhood,” said Petrichak.
Since the fall of the city of Bahmut, in May 2023, and the city of AVDIIVKA, in February 2024, and so far the Russian forces have conquered the village after the village and have held positions near the city of Chassiv Yar.
Located on hills that serve as natural defensive structures, the city of Chasiv Yar is proud of the highest point in the area, a strategic point for any army who wants to get an advantage.
The city is separated in the east by the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas channel, which creates a barrier between the Kanal microdistric and the rest of the city.
During the largest part of the spring of 2024, the Kiev forces managed to keep the Russian troops outside the city. On June 27, 2024, the Ukrainian army announced that it had driven the Russian forces that had entered the Kanal neighborhood.
At the beginning of 2025, the Russian army occupied a plant in Chasiv Yar, wrote Ukrainska Pravda on January 18, but this was not confirmed by Ukrainian officials.
On March 7, the analysts of the Deeptate military platform said that the battles continued throughout the city, the Russians trying to hide in the ruins of tall buildings.
By the end of April, 156 inhabitants were still in Chasiv Yar, according to Ruslan Pryimenko, deputy chief of the Chassiv Yar military administration.
