The hit “All I Want For Christmas” by the American singer Mariah Carey, listened to at Christmas for over 30 years, was dethroned on Spotify by “Snowman” by the Australian Sia, writes News.ro.
“All I Want For Christmas” reigned – until last week – at the top of the listening charts around the world.
He thus obtained a new record – 77 weeks of presence in the famous Billboard Hot-100 ranking, the longest period of a song in the history of the ranking, established 67 years ago.
But this year, another singer dominates the Christmas songs.
On Spotify, the Australian singer Sia surpassed Mariah Carey and “All I Want For Christmas” with the song “Snowman”, released in 2017, according to data communicated by the platform regarding the month of December.
Sia's song topped multiple music charts in several countries, including Germany and Sweden, and remained among Spotify's most-streamed Christmas songs until it topped the charts this month.
But Mariah Carey can claim to be the only queen of the year-end holidays with “All I Want For Christmas”, which is listened to by 2.4 billion people on Spotify, while Sia's “Snowman” registers “only” 1.4 billion listens.
