PLN 884.5 million from the EU for key gas investments


The grant agreement was signed under the European Funds program for infrastructure, climate, environment (Feniks) 2021–2027. The document was signed on Friday, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Kędzierzyn-Koźle gas pipeline-Racibórz.
GAZ-SYSTEM indicated that the Lewin Brzeski-Nysa gas pipeline project, which is to connect to the North-Południe corridor, will receive support in the amount of PLN 197.8 million. This investment is to ensure a new power source for the southern part of the Opolskie Voivodeship. In turn, the construction of Lwówek gas compressor, for which PLN 559.9 million was allocated, will enable the integration of the National Transmission System with the Jamal Gas Pipeline. The third investment – snakes gas pipeline – transport with a diameter of 700 mm – thanks to EU support, it will improve the bandwidth and increase the efficiency of transmission infrastructure.

Wrochna: The funds strengthen the entire region
Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Wojciech Wrochna noted that funds from the Feniks program not only They strengthen Polish gas infrastructure, but also contribute to the energy construction of the independence of all of Central Europe. According to him, Poland is consistently developing a stable energy system, which is a pillar of the security of both the country and the region.
GAZ-SYSTEM Vice President Elżbieta Kramek emphasized that EU funds enable the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects, which not only modernize the transmission network, but also prepare it for challenges related to energy transformation. In her opinion, these investments are a step towards modern and safe infrastructure, as well as better preparation for climate threats, such as floods or extreme weather conditions.
Gaz-System, which is fully owned by the State Treasury, is responsible for the transmission of natural gas and manages key gas pipelines in Poland. The company is also the owner and operator of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, which plays an important role in ensuring gas supply.
