In an interview with “Wprost” the president was asked about the words of the MEP of the Confederation of Stanisław Tyszka, according to which the President failed his voters by the decision to sign the law.
“(Nawrocki) was elected in a very large part by voters Sławomir Mentzen. We are used to the fact that PO and PiS do not keep their promises, but it happened quite quickly” – said Tyszka in an interview with” Gazeta Wyborcza “.
The president, when asked about the opinion of the confederation politicians, stated that he did not reveal anyone.
“I realize what I announced. The first veto to the Act on helping Ukrainians forced the government to withdraw from 800 plus for non -working Ukrainians and curtaned medical tourism. The veto brought measurable results, “said Nawrocki in an interview with Wprost.
The president noted that the new law does not meet all his expectations, because he omits, among others The fight against UPA symbols in Poland or extending the period of applying for Polish citizenship by foreigners.
“On the other hand, imagine what would happen if I did not sign this law. The consequence would be a storm of half a million Ukrainians on offices to extend the right of residence and work opportunities. Those who criticize me today would complain that I led to this chaos” – he said.

The president also announced that he had last signed the Act on help to Ukrainians. He noted that in half a year all national minorities in Poland will be treated on the same terms.
“Such a signal went to the government. If someone says that I betrayed, I consider these words irresponsible. There is one more perspective: if Poles abroad got information that in a few days they must leave Great Britain, Germany, France, then as the Polish president I would have to intervene,” said the president.

To be careful that only a part of almost a million Ukrainians have a residence card that allows them to work, Nawrocki announced that entrepreneurs contacted the Chancellery of the President.
