How much does a doctor earn for SOR? Hourly and monthly rates in 2025

SORs, i.e. hospital emergency departments, are places where patients require immediate help every day. Working in such an environment is a constant pressure of time, difficult decisions and a huge responsibility for human life. To attract specialists, hospitals offer higher and higher salaries. However, even this is not enough to solve the problem of staff shortages.
For several days, the announcement of the Provincial Hospital in Bielsko-Biała has been circulating, which drew the attention of Internet users. The facility is looking for a doctor to work for SOR. Earnings? Up to PLN 450 per hour. With a maximum work dimension – 240 hours a month – the salary can be up to PLN 108,000 gross per month, according to the announcement.
Despite such attractive rates willing to work at SOR, there is still a lack of lack. As emphasized by prof. Klaudiusz Nadolny, an expert in the field of emergency medicine, the problem is primarily a huge burden on work.
“The number of patients at hospital emergency departments in Poland is simply overwhelming,” he said in an interview with Medonet. “It's not money – small or large – they are the biggest problem here.”

Jakub Kosikowski, a press and spokesman for the Supreme Medical Chamber, also referred to this situation on Platform X. In his post he pointed out that the problem of SORs does not only result from financial issues.
“In the spring of 2025, only 22 doctors were recruited for 144 free places for emergency medicine, despite such coconuts. This is not about money for a long time. There are places where no one will come for any salary, because the number of patients is unbearable, and working conditions simply unacceptable” – wrote Kosikowski.
In turn, as noted by prof. Nadolny, a paramedic and academic lecturer, the problem of overloading SOR is a system phenomenon. There are currently 250 such departments in Poland that served over 4 million patients last year.
