Who is Young Boys, Huge Club in Bern
Young Boys was born in 1898, in Bern, at the initiative of four football students, Max brothers and Oscar Schwab, along with Hermann Bauer and Franz Kehrli. The name “Young Boys” was chosen as a humorous reply to the ones from “Old Boys Basel”, an older and more titled band at that time.
From the beginning the club was associated with yellow and black colors, which have become emblematic. The first champion title was conquered in 1903and the golden period came in the 1950s -'60s, when the team dominated the championship, winning four consecutive titles between 1957 and 1960, while also managing to reach the semifinals of the European Champions Cup in 1959, where he lost in front of Reims, a result of the modern practices of the club, adopted from the Second World War.
The following decades brought more instability, with rarer successes, but Young Boys remained a respected name. In the Swiss championship there was a solid team, but it has not dominated. However, in 1968 he checked a title, and in the 1970s he took some European participation, but without spectacular results.
The 1980s were a little better: Young Boys won the title in 1986, but also two Cups of Switzerland (1977 and 1987). At the same time, the club began to be known for its atmosphere on the stadium, with fans that remained loyal even when the team did not fight at the top.
After 1990, Young Boys entered a sports and financial crisis, with relegation in 1997 and 1999. After 2010, the club experienced a rebirth, culminating with the 2018 title, the first after a 32-year break, followed by other successes that reinstalled it among the most powerful teams in Switzerland: Five holders won in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024, Cups of Switzerland in 2020 and 2023.
17 titlesHe has won Young Boys in the 127 -year -old, who are added eight triumphs in the Switzerland Cup
Important Continental Killer for Young Boys: Steaua won 6-0 against yellow-blacks in '79
Young Boys debuted in Europe in 1957, and the peak time came immediately: in 1958/'59 he reached the semifinals of the European Champions Cup, eliminating teams such as MTK Budapest and Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt (currently ErzgeBirge AUE), before being defeated by Reims. This remains the largest European performance in the history of the club.
In the following decades, YB had sporadic occurrences, without exceeding the preliminary tours or the first phases. In the 1979-1980 season, the yellow-blacks gave in front of the Bucharest Star, with 8-2, generally, after a 6-0 unlikely in Ghencea, with goals successful by Ion Nițu, Vasile Aelenei, Ștefan Sameș (two), Marcel Răducanu and Gabriel Zahiu, the match in which Marcel Răducanu scored a goal, Three times!

In the 1970s and 80s he took several solid campaigns, including in the UEFA Cup and the Cup Cup, the most notable being in the 1987-1988 Cup Cup, when he reached the “quarters” of the Cup Cup. After many years of eliminations in the first UCL tours, UEFA or Intetoto Cup, YB returned to the continental groups, in the 2010-2011 season.
Since then, the Swiss have been set to be a constant presence on the European scene, including with presence in the Champions League groups: 2018-2019, 2021-2022, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. Last season, the yellow-blacks were the last in the unique group, after failures on the line with Aston Villa, Barcelona, Inter, Șahtior, Atalanta, Stuttgart, Celtic and Red Star. In the current season, they eliminated Slovan Bratislava in the play-off, 3-2, 1-0, but they lost in the first round of the group phase, 1-4 with Panathinikos.

Young Boys, tactically “discharged”: the Swiss are addicted to Bedia + where he can speculate FCSB
Young Boys plays almost exclusively in 4-4-2, with very safe central defenders on construction and extremely offensive bands. I build through short and medium passes, accelerate when I find space and emphasize attacks on the flanks, with extremes that dribble and focus on the tips.
The main weapons are Bedia, a massive and efficient attacker (9 goals in 12 games), and Fassnacht, a player who produces danger and moves intelligently between lines (4 goals and 2 decisive passes). They are dangerous to fixed phases and air game, and their advanced pressing brings them up.

Young Boys bases their game on physical strength and presence in the box. The middle line plays a role of balance, with Fernandes and Gigovic Active at recovery and distribution, but not true creators. The occasions appear especially after phases on lanes or long balls shipped to the same Bedia. When they attack, the laterals go up simultaneously, which gives them amplitude, but exposes them a lot to fast transitions.
Weaknesses appear in the defensive: The lateral defenders lose many duels, the bottom line is hard to fold and the team suffers on the counterattack phase. They depend a lot on Bedia for completion and have no remote solutions, with zero goals outside the box.

In the defense they have serious problems in the aerial duels, where Janko, Mambwa and Zoukrou lose many confrontations, exposing the goalkeeper, which can be exploited by the powerful and waist players of FCSB, such as Miculescu or Bîrligea.

Their voids come almost exclusively from inside the box, many with their heads, others after fixed centerings or phases. With an estimated XG (the probability that a chance to turn into emptiness) of 11.2, YB has scored 14 times in the championship – 7 times from the open game, 7 times from fixed phases (2 of the penalty).

21 high chances (4/12)

-
40 corners (3/12)

12.3 is the average of the faults per match (8/12) – 14 yellow cards received those from YB (8/12), but also a “red”
The team has an offensive identity based on possession (55.2%), but without a suffocating rhythm, it tries to control the matches, but not at the dominant level. The cumulative XG (11,2) smaller than the actual number of goals (14) suggests that they do not need much chances to score.
The number of high chances and the touch in the side -by -side windows show that they reach quite frequently in dangerous areas. It does not excel in the circulation of the balloon, which denotes the percentage of successful passes. I am a pretty fair play team, with an average of 2 yellow cards per match.
73.8 million eurossums up the lot of Young Boys, according to the Transfermarkt specialty portal – 25 million more than the red -blue lot
14 million eurosIt is the share of Alvyn Sanches, the most valuable player in the Swiss lot. However, the “decar” will not play, being unavailable due to a serious injury, at the cross ligaments. Marvin Keller (porter) and Jaouen Hadjam (left defender) are worth 9 million euros
Giorgio Contini is the team technician, from 18.12.2024. In the 36 matches at the helm of the Swiss, it has an average of 1.78 points per match. Previously, it was Murat Yakin's second at the Swiss national, training at Grasshoppers, Lausanne, St Gallen and Vaduz. The staff of Young Boys also includes the Romanian Zoltan Kadar, at the club in 2022.
