During the peak of the heads of government and European Union countries in Copenhagen, Macron emphasized that it is necessary to increase pressure on the Russian fleet, which – as he noted – supports the financing of hostilities in Ukraine. The President of France also announced that in the coming days there will be a meeting of heads of military staffs of NATO countries as part of the so -called Coalitions willing, which aims to develop joint activities against Russian ships.
On Wednesday, the French Navy carried out a tanker arrest on the coast of France. The unit was entered by commandos who arrested two people from the crew, including a captain, who was a China citizen. According to the French authorities, the captain is to be brought to court in connection with the allegations of not providing information about the tanker's belonging and not to be ordered to orders.
The investigation in this matter was initiated before the unit was detained. The prosecutor's office announced that the ship's crew did not follow the applicable procedures. According to data on the maritime movement, which is referred to by the Reuters agency, the tanker was monitored by the French war ship.
The French media point out that the presence of a tanker raises serious concerns not only because of his connections with the Russian shadow fleet. The name of the unit also appeared in the context of recent incidents related to drones over Copenhagen and Norway.
