The results of the extra time auction at 2029. 4,000 were secured. MW

The power market mechanism organized by Polish networks serves to ensure the stability of supply and readiness of energy generators. As the regulator reminds, the power market is not only a matter of energy production, but also its availability in crisis situations. This is particularly important during periods of increased demand, e.g. in winter peaks, when renewable energy sources, such as windmills or photovoltaic panels, may not provide sufficient power.

Three won offers from abroad
The main auction for 2029, which took place on December 12, 2024, did not fully secure the needs of the power system. Therefore, an extra time was carried out, which – as the President of the Energy have informed – 53 offers, including 50 from Polish power market units and 3 from foreign units. The total volume of contracted power is over 4,000 513 MW. Among this 61 MW pool there were individuals outside the country.
The regulator reports that the whole auction ended in the first round. Representatives of the Energy Regulatory Office indicated that the closing price for Polish manufacturers was 534.09 PLN/kW/year, and for participants from abroad – PLN 440/kW/year.
“The extra time auction for a year of delivery 2029 ended in the first round with a closing price of PLN 534.09/kW/year for the power market units consisting of Polish physical units and PLN 440.00/kW/year for power market units consisting of foreign physical units” – explained the office.
The last call in the power market took place on November 6, 2024 in the conditions of intensive windless and cloudy weather. Failure wind farms and photovoltaic installations significantly weakened the system's available abilities, which forced the activation of power reserves. These types of situations justify the need to maintain an efficient power market mechanism to remedy similar challenges in the future.
