On March 27, 2024, the foundation stone of the new Stihl factory in Oradea, Romania was laid. The new site will host a battery production unit and mark an important moment in the growth strategy of the German company. The international production network, which currently includes production units in seven countries on four continents, extends with another strategic location in Europe.

The new production unit has a built area of ​​almost 47,000 square meters and is located on a land of 147,000 square meters. The series production was scheduled to start in September 2025, but the inauguration was established for October 15, 2025. The Andreas Stihl Power Tools SRL factory will have about 700 employees by 2028.

Sustainability and environmental protection have played a central role in the design and construction of the new unit. After completion, the factory will be certified by the German Council for Sustainable Buildings (DGNB). The unit will be equipped with a photovoltaic system and will use geothermal energy for heating and cooling the office building, which makes it completely independent of fossil fuels. The concept also includes the implementation of green roofs.
