The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, said on Tuesday about the Zaporojie nuclear power plant, that it was disconnected from the Ukrainian electric network seven consecutive days, a situation that he described as “criticism” and potentially dangerous, AFP reports.

He claims that there are problems with one of the backup diesel generators, and the current situation is “a threat to everyone.”

It is the longest current from Zaporojie since Russia has invaded and took over the nuclear power station, the largest in Europe.

“Seven days have passed. This has never happened again,” Zenski said in his daily speech, adding: “The situation is critical.”

Exchange of accusations between Ukraine and Russia

Moscow and Kiev have repeatedly accused each other of risking a potentially devastating nuclear disaster, blaming each other and for the latest current wedge.

“Due to Russian attacks, the boiler has been cut from electricity supply and electricity.

Last week, Russia told the power station, on which he took control in the first weeks of the war launched in 2022, that he received reserve food after an attack he attributed to Ukrainian forces.

Zelenski has accused Moscow of “obstructing the repair” of electrical lines through air attacks, saying that “this is a threat to absolutely everyone.”

The six reactors of the boiler, which before the war produced about one -fifth of Ukraine's electricity, were closed after the control by Moscow.

On the other hand, the boiler needs energy to maintain cooling and safety systems, which prevents the melting of reactors – a danger that could trigger a nuclear incident.

Since the beginning of the war, the boiler has been facing multiple threats, including frequent bombings in the area, repeated power feathers and lack of staff. Located near the city of Energodar, it is near the front line.
