According to official data, after centralization of over 99% of the minutes, the action and solidarity (step) party of Maia Sandu obtained about 50% of the votes in the Republic of Moldova, which means that it will be able to form a new Government.

The reactions in Romania did not delay to appear, one of those who positively appreciated this result being the PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu.

“Congratulations to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have chosen to continue the European path!

With over 50% of the living rooms, PAS will be able to form a government oriented to democratic values, development and a better standard of living for citizens.

The results of yesterday's vote show that the Republic of Moldova had the maturity needed to not fall into the trap of populism, isolationism and regress.

The place of the Republic of Moldova is in the great European family!

That is why we want to complete the integration negotiations until the end of 2028 ”, wrote Sorin Grindeanu on his Facebook page.

Victoria PAS is considered a guarantee for the continuation of the reforms and for the proximity of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, despite the external pressures.

The international observers and the Chisinau authorities report the considerable efforts made by Russia to influence the result by massive purchase of votes and misinformation campaigns.

However, the pro-Russian parties have obtained very weak scores. The formations supported by the criminal group Șor failed to cross the electoral threshold, and the parties affiliated with the former oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc did not exceed 1% of the living rooms.
