The new branch comes to complement the forces of unanswered systems, which focus on offensive attacks on the front line on the Russian territory. In contrast, the new formation is under the command of the air forces and has the exclusive air defense task with the help of interceptional drones.

According to Militarnyi, the new formation aims to strengthen air defense by supporting tactical aviation and soil-air missile crews, protecting cities and critical infrastructure. A command has already been formed, and subunits equipped with intercepting drones are to be carried out.

Sîrski explained that the systems are already in use, the staff being further trained, and the radar coverage is extended.

“The process is in full swing, if I can say it,” he said.

He also revealed that interceptional drones manufactured in Ukraine, but also over 70% in the destruction of Russia's Shahed's Shahed drones.

The head of the Ukrainian army explained that the air defense system consisting of drones is staggered. The first interception line extends along the front, where the long-range Russian drones enter the Ukrainian airspace.

A key tactical radars with three coordinates play a key role. These systems can be transported by several soldiers, they are easy to camouflage and allow small vehicles to create mobile and autonomous defense lines.

In June, Sîrski made the observation that the lack of tactical radars is a major obstacle to the Ukrainian forces: “We only have a few. We need hundreds.”

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukraine has begun the domestic production of such radars, capable of detecting air targets at a distance of over 10 kilometers, but which are simpler and more stable than complex western systems, being specially designed for drone interception missions.
