The European External Action Service (SEAE)-the diplomatic arm of the European Union-proposed a notification obligation on Friday for Russian diplomats in the member countries in the case of any journey within the EU, measure that could be included in the 19th sanctions package against Russia, European sources said on Friday.

The proposed notification system would allow EU member countries to prohibit the entry of Russian diplomats into their territory, if they want it.

The Baltic countries and the Czech Republic, in particular, have put pressure on the restriction of the trips of Russian diplomats since last year.

The EU states currently debate the content of the 19th pack of sanctions imposed on Russia to trigger the Ukraine war, which will also include the prohibition of Lichefied natural gas (GNL) from January 1, 2027.
