Nicușor Dan participates in the funeral ceremony of Cardinal Lucian Muresan

President Nicușor Dan will be present at the Cardinal Cardinal Ceremony, Major Archbishop of the United Romanian Church with Rome, Greek-Catholic, according to the Presidential Administration.

The head of state will lay a crown of flowers at the monument “Crucifixion“From Victoriei Square in Timișoara and will visit the company Timișoara. Later, it will visit the Roman Catholic Cathedral “Saint George” From Timișoara, The Fourge, Rayscape company, the exhibition “Dan Perjovschi / Romania-a retrospective 1985-2025 ” and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Also, Nicușor Dan will make an official visit to Timiș county, where he will hold a speech during the opening session of the inaugural edition of “Timișoara Cities Summit 2025 on the extension of the European Union ”.

In the evening, the president will participate in a round table with representatives of the business environment with the theme “How can the innovation increase the competitiveness of Romania?”at the headquarters of the City Hall, and will participate in the Public Conference “Europe at the crossroads – security, prosperity and our common future / Europe at Crossroads – Security, Prosperity, and Our Common Future ”.

On Thursday, Nicușor Dan emphasized in his message of condolences that Lucian Mureșan dedicated all his efforts to strengthen the religious dialogue, to encourage cooperation between the Church and the institutions of the Romanian state and to help the Romanian society to heal the wounds of the past, to follow the path of freedom and democratic maturity.

Nicuşor Dan recalled that in 1948 the church was subjected to political persecutions, arrests, humiliations of clergy and believers and abolition by the communist regime.

For his part, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan showed sadly the passage of Cardinal Lucian Mureșan, leader of the United Romanian Church with Rome, Greek-Catholic.
