Major General Rtr. Radu Theodoru, accused of planning to seize power in Romania and change the country's name to Getia, manages to create controversy even after his death. On its Facebook page, the family continues to post messages related to the fact that the Ministry of Defense has illegally withdrawn his right to burial with military honors and announces that it has sent a summons to this effect.
“My dear Romanians,
I am attaching the answer of the Ministry of (un)National Defense, from which you will deduce that now the reason is not the invented coup, it is no longer Putinist, but the denial of the holocaust constitutes an attack on the “fundamental values of the Romanian army” (we used to write “army” with capital letters, now it is no longer the case!) That is, a real problem of the “(un)Romanian servant-state!”
I'll leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions after reading MApN's answer:
“We extend our sympathy for your loss and ask that you accept our sincere condolences. We understand the pain of these moments and respect the memory of the one who is gone from us.
Major General (retired) Radu Ioan Theodoru served Romania during the Second World War, in a difficult historical context. The events of that period are part of an important chapter of military history, a chapter that we recognize and respect.
However, the Ministry of National Defense has the obligation to respect the legal framework and the official values of the Romanian state. In this regard, our institution must categorically distinguish between a person's military career and his subsequent publicist and ideological activity, when it contradicts historical truth and democratic principles.
The Romanian state, by adopting the Report of the International Commission for the Study of the Holocaust in Romania, assumed responsibility for the tragedies of that period. Consequently, any form of denial or minimizing of the Holocaust is incompatible both with the legislation in force and with Romania's moral commitments.
In this framework, the publicist activity and statements of Mr. Radu Theodoru were explicitly mentioned in the aforementioned Report as examples of Holocaust denial.
Such positions are in direct contradiction with the fundamental values of the Romanian Army, an institution that has the duty to defend the rule of law, the official historical memory and the principles of human dignity.
We assure you that the situation has been analyzed with maximum objectivity. However, considering the provisions of GEO no. 31/2002 and the institutional obligations of the MApN, we cannot approve the organization of funerals with military honors.
The decision is firm and results from the need for the Romanian Army to remain consistent with its principles and the historical truth assumed by the Romanian state.
With respect to the bereaved family, we reiterate our sincere condolences»”.
After this post, the gen family. major rtr. Radu Theodoru returned, during the morning of Friday, December 12, with a summons to the Ministry of Defense, “on behalf of the family of General Radu Ioan Theodoru, on behalf of the military honor of the Romanian Army, on behalf of the law and the Constitution of Romania”in which he accuses the withdrawal of a “legal right” in the absence of a court decision.
“General Radu Theodoru has never been convicted, in any court in Romania or in the world, for any crime provided by GEO 31/2002 or for any other crime”, scores the family, which threatens with a lawsuit and announces that it will demand moral damages in the amount of 200,000,000 euros.
