Romanian student dead in the USA, in a stupid accident, one night before he returned home: to unbalance on the terrace of a restaurant and fell into the water
Destiny broken at 20 years. Ciprian-Cristian Scrobotă, a 20-year-old student in the second year at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca, lost his life in the United States, where he was through the “Work and Travel” program.

According to information published in the US press, Ciprian was at a restaurant near the Wisconsin River, along with a few colleagues working during the student vacation. After they had lunch, the group moved to the terrace of the premises, located on the water's edge.
In a moment of inattention, the young man unbalanced, hit his head and fell into the water. Doctors arrived on the spot could do nothing to save their lives. The tragedy occurred just before one day to return to Romania, where the family was waiting for him.
Student and talented sportsman
Ciprian-Cristian Scrobotă was originally from Aiud and followed a university career in the field of sport. As a child, he noticed by his football talent, evolving for several clubs: ACS Junior Aiud, CFR Cluj (junior level) and LPS Cluj. Those who knew him describe him as an ambitious, disciplined and energy.
The student's lightning death caused a wave of emotion among the community in Alba and Cluj. His college colleagues, teachers, but also representatives of sports clubs sent messages of condolence family.
The Alba County Football Association announced that in Ciprian's memory a moment of silence will be held at all the senior matches scheduled at the weekend. “It is a huge loss for county football and for the whole community. Our thoughts are heading for the Scrobotă family”, AJF representatives said.
The family asks for help for repatriation
The costs of repatriation of the inanimate body in the United States are very high. The family, overwhelmed with pain, began the steps to bring home their son's body. Friends and colleagues have launched public calls for fundraising, and the community in Aiud has mobilized to be with them.
