American war planes have attacked a boat used for drug trafficking off the Coast of the Dominican Republic, according to the announcement made on Sunday by the country's anti-drug structure and an American official, in an extension of US military activity in the Caribbean Sea, AFP reports.

The head of the DNCD Anti-Drug Agency spoke about the attack in a common press conference with a US Embassy spokesman.

The representative of the embassy said that this is the attack announced by Donald Trump since Friday, when the US president did not mention the location and the name or quantity of the banned substances transported by the boat.

The operation came to continue the series of American attacks off the Venezuelan coast that targeted boats accused of being involved in drug trafficking.

In this mission, US military aircraft attacked a quick boat carrying 1,000 kilograms of cocaine to 80 nautical miles from the Dominican island of Beata, said DNCD spokesman Carlos Devers, at the press conference.

A source close to the investigation said that the boat was probably out of Venezuela.

The US confirmed three recent attacks in the Caribbean Sea, in which they were killed over a dozen people.

Donald Trump had announced on Friday that the US Army had hit a drug trafficking boat in international waters, killing three people.

Unlike previous attacks, the US president did not mention Venezuela. He posted on Social Truth and a video recording with a quick boat in the viewfinder of a weapon, which then explodes when it is hit by ammunition.

Impressive unfolding of force

The American military conduct, eight war vessels and a submarine with nuclear propulsion in the south of the Caribbean, off the Venezuelan coast, and 10 fighter jets in the Puerto Rico area, has been widely denounced in Latin America, stirring fears that the US could attack Venezuela.

He also triggered debates about the legality of operations, given that the drug traffin itself is not sanctioned with the capital punishment under American legislation.

The left president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, accused the US of pursuing a regime change in Caracas under the pretext of an anti -drug operation.
