MAE rejects “false statements” related to the vote in the diaspora. “It's the same number of bulletins as the first round.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) combats, on Friday, “false statements meant to manipulate the public and generate dissatisfaction, distrust and hostility”, in relation to an alleged influence of the vote in the diaspora, reports news.ro.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken note of the transport by social media posts of false statements meant to manipulate the public and to generate dissatisfaction, distrust and hostility, in order to influence the elections. These are similar to the false statements related to the first tour for the designation of the President of Romania,” the MAE said on Friday.
According to the institution's officials, “such messages with false information and accusations are serious and flagrant attempts to handle voters.” The MAE message refers to posts from the online environment through which an alleged influence of the vote in the Diaspora, by doubling the number of ballots and an alleged pro-Nicuşor DAN mobilization.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Romanian citizens from abroad will vote in good conditions, the vote in the second round takes place for three days. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is permanently related to the diplomatic missions and consular offices to ensure the necessary support for the good performance of the elections abroad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds that the political parties have designated, in the polling stations abroad, members and/or observers,” the quotation source said.
The MAE proposed AEP a number of 965 polling stations, which were presented at the first round for the designation of the President of Romania 973,129 Romanian citizens.
For the second round, 3,600,000 ballots are to be transmitted. “It is the same number of bulletins as at the first round of the elections. False messages are meant to undermine the free and correct character of the elections,” the statement said.
The organization of the sections was established by the AEP Decision no. 19/2025, and the list of the addresses of the polling stations is available on the MAE site and disseminated including through multiple digital solutions, some developed by the civil society, accessible to the public to facilitate real-time information, and the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania communicate this information to citizens.
