The largest foreign mission in Norway in Norway began on Monday in Poland – Norwegian armed forces informed. At Camp Jomsborg, Norwegians train future Ukrainian instructors.

Several hundred Ukrainians will go by the end of the year advanced courses, including in the field of command and resistance to stress in combat conditions. They will also get to know weapon systems that NATO countries send Ukraine. In practice, new equipment will also be checked, e.g. unmanned transporters that provide equipment on the battlefield. Commanders of teams, platoons and companies will be trained.
The Telio Battalion and command of the Fast Reacting of the Norwegian army are responsible for the task of “Legio Operation”. From August, Camp Jomsborg was built in the unpleasant location in the south-eastern part of Poland. The base for several hundred students and instructors received its name from the legendary factor, which the Vikings were to establish in the first Piasts in the vicinity of Wolin.
The training conducted by Norwegian instructors so far took place at training grounds in the north of Norway. Then the classes were continued in Ukraine alone, but the constant threat of Russian drone attacks seriously hindered their lead.
“That is why a location was found in Poland, which is located close enough to the war zone, so that trained soldiers could efficiently participate in subsequent polygonal rotations. We know that the Russians would like to find out what is happening in our camp” – explained in the Norwegian armed armed forces, the commander of “Legio Operations”.
Over time, instructors from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and other countries will join the Norwegians from the Telemark battalion. The training cycle was initially planned until the end of the year, but the brigadier Molde did not rule out the extension of the mission.
