Interim president Ilie Bolojan said on Tuesday, in a press conference at the Victoria Palace, that Romania has communication channels with the United States, which “can be improved”, and that the dialogue with the Trump administration “must be a constant”. “In order for him to have results, no part should torped him. Otherwise, things will not go well,” Bolojan said.

Asked by reporters if he has Romania communication channels with the US and if he would need an official or informal emissary, against the background of the public space on the role played by Dragoș Sprînceană near the new Republican Administration at the White House, the interim president replied: “Romania has communication channels and that does not mean that in any situation, you can not improve any situation,”

Asked if he will discuss with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu about an additional communication with the US, Bolojan said: “I have talks with the prime minister or with the line ministers, or with other responsible, so that where common decisions are needed, for example the position of Romania on the EU, as well as the EU, and I collaborated with the EU I think it must be a constant.

“I support collaboration and normality, that's why our country needs especially at this moment,” continued the head of state.

Asked by the reporter HotNews.ro how the Bolojan administration communicates with the Trump administration, Bolojan replied: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our Embassy, Other responsible communicates with counterparts, similar institutions in the United States and other states.”

Also, questioned about the statements of Dragoș Sprînceană and if they represent a challenge of the presidential duties, he said: “Please ask the prime minister Marcel Ciolacu. As for the position of the institution that I temporarily represent, throughout this period (institution) only to defend Romania's interests.”

“It matters what each man does for the position he occupies, in this case for his country, not certain perceptions that we cannot influence, not certain points of view. Each must have the consciousness that he has done what needs in such situations. I can give replicas, I can make comments, but I do not prefer. A country that knows the cardinal points very well, ”said the interim president.

Asked if he thinks that Romania needs a lobby strategy administered by the Presidency, Ilie Bolojan replied: “The more we use all the legal and timely levers to represent the country better, the better.”

In fact, although reporters insisted on the topic Dragoș Sprînceanu, the interim president did not want on Tuesday, in the press conference at the Cotroceni Palace, to comment on the statements of the “emissary” sent by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in the USA, besides the Trump administration, limiting himself to catalog “.

“” We have tried throughout this period as on the issues in which our country was to be represented in the long term and on aspects related to the president and the Government to correlate our positions, to have positions, for example, to the European Council to be supported by the agreement, to vote tomorrow agree for what the European Commission proposes, so we have to do with it, The parliamentary consultation on secondary, sure, do not want to comment, ”explained Bolojan.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that the United States is trying “a new approach”, specifying that in order to present the new administration the situation in our country has appealed to Romanians in the diaspora involved in the American politics in the Republican Party area, one of them being the businessman Dragoș Sprînceană.
