The leader of Belarus Alaxandr Lukashenko announced that the candidates of political prisoners who may be released would be assessed by a special committee. He admitted that negative decisions would be issued; He cited, for example, Andrzej Poczobut.

The portal closed. He announced that those whose candidates will be accepted by members of the committee dealing with the conclusion of citizens regarding their violations of law would be released.
He then added: – And what if Mukawozczyk (Andrej Mukawozczyk, a member of the commission – PAP) will say that (this candidate for release) is a finished bastard. And then we will give up and We will say “no.” As in the case of Poczobut and others.
Lukashenko spoke on Wednesday evening. On September 16, he issued a decree to pardon 25 political prisoners convicted of “extremist crimes”.
A few days earlier, on September 11, after negotiations with a delegation acting on behalf of the American presidential administration Lukashenko released 52 political prisoners from the prisoner, who were then deported from the country. One of the prisoners – the oppositionist and former candidate in the presidential election of Mikoła Statkiewicz – refused to leave Belarus. According to independent media reports, he was again placed in a penal colony.
Andrzej Poczobut – he is a journalist and activist of the Polish minority in Belarus. In March, four years have passed since the Post -Zobut in Grodno has been arrested. The Belarusian prosecutor's office accused him of “rehabilitation of Nazism”, and then also about calling for sanctions and acting to the detriment of Belarus. Since May 2023, Poczobut has been punished by eight years in prison in the penal colony in Nowopolack for “raising, inciting hatred” and “calling for action to the detriment of Belarus.” (PAP)
