In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a man killed a random stranger 20 years ago because of a fur hat.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the case of a resident of Achinsk, who is accused of causing the death of a woman more than 20 years ago, is being brought to court.

The investigative department of the regional Sledkom said that the body of a murdered woman was found on December 30, 2004 on a pedestrian path in the Yubileiny garden society in Achinsk. An unknown killer hit her with something on the back of the head, causing an open head injury from which she died. Upon examination, it turned out that the victim did not have the fur hat in which she left the house, nor did she have a bag.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, resulting in the death of the victim through negligence), but it was not possible to establish the identity of the attacker.

Investigators returned to investigate the case in 2026. It turned out that at that time there were several similar attacks on women in Achinsk. The attacker met them on the territory of gardening partnerships and stole fur items, bags and jewelry. Now a 59-year-old resident of Achinsk is serving a sentence for committing a series of crimes against individuals.

Investigators interrogated him and obtained a confession. It turned out that the man had noticed his victim in advance and began to pursue her, armed with a stick. At a time when no one was around, the attacker hit the woman on the head, tore off her hat and took the bag with money, after which he disappeared.

Currently, the investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base. The criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment and subsequent referral to court for consideration on the merits.
