Aleksander Łukaszenko, during a meeting with ideologists, historians and experts, dedicated to the day of national unity of Belarus, took the floor on political prisoners released by his regime. “Why keep them after 10-12 years,” he said.

Despite the last dismissals, Andrzej Poczobut, a journalist and activist of the Polish minority in Belarus, still remains in prison.
Lukashenko referred to him, talking about the mentioned committee. – What if a muffin [członek komisji i pracownik propagandowych mediów] Will he say that “this and this candidate for pardon is a bastard”? We will withdraw and say “no”. As in the case of Poczobut and others – explained Lukashenko.

Belarus released 52 people from a prison last week, including 14 foreigners, among whom three people are Polish citizens. Information about the release was first provided by the US embassy in Vilnius, then the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda. Andrzej Poczobut was not among the released.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that the matter of release of Poczobut remains the priority of Poland in conversations with allies and the authorities of Belarus. “He is the first on the list of our expectations,” said the head of government.
Andrzej Poczobut is a journalist and activist of the Polish minority in Belarus. In March, four years have passed since the Post -Zobut in Grodno has been arrested. The Belarusian prosecutor's office accused him of “rehabilitation of Nazism”, and then also about calling for sanctions and actions to the detriment of Belarus. From May 2023, Poczobut has been punished by eight years in prison in the Criminal Cologne in Nowopolack for “raising, inciting hatred” and “calling for action to the detriment of Belarus.”
