Hamas released the last American hostage. He is a soldier

Alexander will be taken to the Israeli army post at the Gaza Strip. Mother, Jael Alexander, is waiting for him. The kidnapped soldier will also be welcomed by Steve Witkoff, the envoy of the US President Donald Trump to the Middle East.
Hamas announced on Sunday that he released Alexander as part of a gesture of good will towards Trump and actions for a truce in the war with Israel and the resumption of humanitarian aid.
According to the media, the release of the American hostage was negotiated by the USA with Hamas through Qatar and Egypt and did not involve any additional conditions.
Alexander the first soldier released
Trump flew on Monday on a three -day journey around the Middle East, during which he will visit, among others Qatar, but not Israel. The media has been informing for several days that Washington's pressure on Israel is growing, so that he would agree to a truce with Hamas.
On March 18, the government in Jerusalem resumed the war after nearly a two -month suspension of weapons to force Hamas to free subsequent hostages and accept the Israeli truce. The Palestinian group claims that it is open to an agreement, but it must guarantee the end of the war. Israel opposes this, because this would not ensure the disarmament of Hamas and remove it from power in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas, releasing Alexandra, hopes that Washington will soften Israel's position, “wrote the Times of Israel portal. Witkoff was to tell the abducted families that he did not agree with the current Israeli approach, which is “the extension of the war”, without the perspective of any progress.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talked on Monday by phone with Trump and met with Witkoff. The Prime Minister's office later announced that Israel would send a delegation for truce talks in the capital of Qatar Dosze on Tuesday. Thanks were also given to Netanyahu for Trump for efforts to release Alexander with the point that it was possible thanks to “Israel's military pressure”. It was emphasized that so far Israel has not committed himself to any truce.
Born in an Israeli-American family, 21-year-old Alexander grew up in American New Jersey. After graduating from high school, he enlisted as a volunteer to Israel's defense forces. He was kidnapped from the station at the Gaza Strip border. He spent 584 days in captivity.
Alexander is the first dismissed by Hamas a kidnapped soldier. Earlier, several soldiers regained freedom as part of the exchange. The Israeli army believes that 24 hostages remain in captivity and 35 kidnapped bodies are detained. In recent days there have been doubts whether the three abducted in the first group are still alive.
