The defendant was looking for almost four days. On September 17, the 29-year-old detainee was charged with attempted theft, committing her, as well as the destruction of the cross, which insulted the religious feelings of the Greek Catholic community.
According to the detainee, he was preparing for a long time to sawing off the cross and acted himself. The man told the police that he was sure that the cross was made of silver.
The representative of the district prosecutor’s office in Lynitz Liliana Lukasevich noted that the defendant previously tried to steal a copper roof from the sacristy of the same parish, and preparing for cutting the cross, stole a ladder from the bead, which costs more than 1.6 thousand zlotys ($ 445).
The 29-year-old man has already been repeatedly convicted of property crimes.
