The break of Ronnie O'Sullivan from the competitive snooker will continue this month, after withdrawing from the British Open. The World Champion Septuple was to face Sanderson Lam on Monday, in a delayed match. However, he announced that his withdrawal had occurred for medical reasons.
The decision comes after its absence from the English Open in Brentwood, Essex, which started yesterday. The exact medical problems faced by the “rocket” are not known. The largest player in the history of the snooker was replaced on the painting by Daniel Womersley, the best ranked player available on the ranking list of Q School 2025.
The tournament takes place at the Hippodrome in Cheltenham and will take place between 22 and 28. The winner will receive a consistent prize of 100,000 pounds, the equivalent of 115,459 euros. The competition uses a system similar to that of the England Cup in football, in which the players are randomly extracted before each round.
Ronnie O'Sullivan can no longer participate in all tournaments, because of health
O'Sullivan, who will turn 50 in December, is in a stage of life in which he carefully chooses the tournaments he participates in. His absence is a great disappointment for fans in the UK, and President Matchroom, Eddie Hearn, said in a new Netflix series that Ronnie's absence affects TV audiences.
This year, he played at Shanghai Masters, where he lost in the quarterfinals in front of Kyren Wilson. Also, it was a single frame distance to win Saudi Arabia Masters and, at the same time, a prize of 500,000 pounds. In the final that was played at Jeddah, he was defeated, by 10-9, by Australian Neil Robertson.
The former world number has not played at the Wuhan Open and a decision was not yet taken on his participation in Xi'an Grand Prix. His next appearance in the UK could be next month, at Belfast at Northern Ireland Open. Recently, he played some demonstration matches in Northern Ireland, according to Thesun.co.uk.
Or, if he qualifies, he could be present at the Champion of Champions in November. The tournament will take place in Leicester.
Mental health and exercise are two aspects to which Ronnie attaches major importance
Lately, the chances of fans in the UK seeing playing on O'Sullivan are increasingly rare because it prioritizes its mental well -being. The news of his withdrawal from the tournament came only a few hours after making them known to his fitness program.
Ronnie, who lost almost 13 kilograms during the pandemic, when he rediscovered his passion for running, posted a video, on his Instagram page, in which he trained. The “rocket” has distributed a clip in which a series of demanding and strength exercises, including straightening and genuflections with dumbbells.
And the legend of the British sport, which moved from Essex to Dubai, stressed, in the description of the post, the importance of physical exercises for its mental and physical well -being. “Exercises are very important to me. Not only for the body, but also for my mood,” the Englishman wrote.
