Lithuania announced on Wednesday the accusation of 15 people acting on behalf of Russia and organizing terrorist acts aimed at detonating parcels and planes in Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom last year, notes AFP, taken over by Agerpres.

According to a statement from the Lithuanian Prosecutor's Office, the offenses “were organized and coordinated by citizens of the Russian Federation who are associated with the military information services of the Russian Federation”.

Those accused are citizens from Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine, the prosecutor's office participated in an international investigation.

Lithuania and Poland announced last year the arrest of several people in this investigation, but the total number of suspects was not known. The prosecutor's office said that at least three suspects were searched internationally and published their identities and photos.

Two of them were also involved in the fire attempt of an IKEA store in Vilnius in 2024, according to the statement. “(Suspects) used the International Delivery and Transport Services of DHL and DPD to send four packages containing explosive and artisanal devices from Vilnius to various European countries,” prosecutors said.

The prosecutor's office said that one explosive triggered at Leipzig Airport (East Germany), another in a DPD truck in Poland, the third in a DHL warehouse in the UK, while the last transported by DPD to Poland did not explode due to technical failure.

The devices were controlled by electronic chronometers hidden in massage pillows, with hidden combustible mixtures in hygiene and cosmetics containers to enhance the incendiary effect, according to the same source.

“It has been established that other citizens of Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine have been involved in organizing and preparing terrorist acts,” the Prosecutor's Office added.

According to the source, these people were recruited through the Telegram application. During the investigation, over 30 searches were carried out in Lithuania, Poland, Latvia and Estonia.
