The Supervision and Reformation committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Republicans, published another set of materials on Tuesday as part of an investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among the disclosed documents were, among others Transcription from the hearing of the former US prosecutor in the administration of Donald Trump, William Barr.
This is the latest party of documents published by the Commission in recent weeks. At the same time, Congress members are still criticizing the Department of Justice for revealing information too slowly.
During a closed interrogation in August Barr explained why some of Epstein's documents still did not see the light of day.
The general rule is: if you have enough evidence to make someone charged, you present it as part of the proceedings, but you do not make your files public. That's why I understand where this restraint came from. The Prosecutor General must maintain balance
– Barr Congresmen said.
Barr also mentioned that he had two talks with Donald Trump about Epstein. One of them took place after Epstein's alleged suicide in 2019, when Barr was to say to Trump: “better prepare for it” and that his team will investigate this matter. The second conversation, in a wider group, also concerned Epstein, although Barr did not remember exactly when it took place.
The president said more or less that he had long ago broke off his Epstein contacts and that he threw him out of MAR-A-Lago
Barr reported.

The Commission also published letters from former general prosecutors Alberto Gonzales, who served as President George W. Bush, and Jeff Sessions, who served as Trump's administration before Barr. Both men received calls to testify as part of the proceedings conducted by the Commission, but they both wrote that they did not remember any relevant information in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
On Tuesday, chairman of the supervision committee James Comer revealed that he had asked the Epstein's estate managers to provide uncensored versions of documents previously sent to the congressmen – including financial books, messages, calendars and flight passengers. So far, Congress staff had the opportunity to get acquainted with them only during a meeting with Epstein lawyers in New York; However, it does not have a copy of them.
“You are always grinned like a mysterious, mischievous boy”
The second batch of materials from Epstein's estate was also published, including two new pages from the so -called Birthday Book, prepared for his 50th birthday. On one of them there is a table of contents with the names of people who contributed to the creation of the book. Mentioned are, among others Former President Bill Clinton and lawyer Alan Dershowitz. The other party is a letter signed by Epstein's friend, Coco Brown, also called “DeGenerate II” [pol. Zwyrodnialec II].
(So many girls, and so little time)? And you, Jeffrey, are always grinned like a mysterious, mischievous boy you are. I remember all this with a smile. But also melancholy, when I think that although you are already so years old, you are still only a boy (although we, vampires, are aging slowly – if at all)
She wrote in the Brown letter.
The publication of materials coincided with the audience of the FBI director, Kasha Patelawhich in this week in Capitol defends administration activities in the Epstein case. On Tuesday, during the interrogation in the Senate, he had to face the difficult questions of legislators from both parties, and on Wednesday he is to appear before the congressmen from the Chamber of Representatives.
